Hey guys, how are you all doing today/tonight? This is my first thread in any imageboard, so if I make some mistakes or seem ignorant in certain areas, please forgive me. I am also somewhat busy with other tasks, so please be patient if I don't update every half hour. I'm kinda nervous about this and I really hope I can make it all the way through, but I hope you all enjoy Rina Quest and its universe!

Cold. The chill around Rina's entire body seeps through her somewhat thick fur all the way down to her flesh. She has no recollection of past events, and her vision is foggy. She can hardly see any more than a radius of a few feet around her. She is hanging upside down by her legs and a large oak tree is next to her. She tries desperately to remember how in the hell she ended up like this, but nothing is coming to her. Her head starts to pound and her body shivers, warming ever so gradually to the coldness around her. It seems uncomfortably still, but Rina guesses that she's in a woodland of some sort.

Well that's no good. Alright, got quite a few questions here, but first things first; see how you're attached to the tree limb at the moment, and whether you're too high off the ground to fall without hurting yourself. We'll see about your amnesia and that blood-stain-looking thing when you're not hanging from a tree.

Rina just realizes how fatigued she feels. She has a hard time lifting herself up, even a little bit!

> see how you're attached to the tree limb at the moment

Luckily, Rina has enough strength to lift her head up a little bit. Her vision is starting to recover, but very slowly. She looks up at her feet. One leg is upright, but the other is bent and hanging onto a branch. Some sort of twisted fabric is holding you in place. It looks very sturdy and almost like the work of somebody pulling some prank on her.

Rina looks downward and is able to see the ground. She looks like she at a fairly good height in which if she were to fall, she would most like break or bruise something unless she could land on her feet, and she's not exactly a skilled gymnast.

Rina can see the base of the tree. Someone is slumped against it. She can't tell from here if he/she's alive. There's some items nearby the person. They are positioned in a way that it looks like they may have fallen from her pocket or something.

The fabric is wrapped tightly around both Rina's legs. She cannot move them!

Rina looks over to her right and notices another tree branch is close by her. To her relief her backpack is hanging onto the branch, just out of her reach. Wait...her backpack? How did she know it was hers right then? Is her memory returning to her?

Yeah I think I know what happened here. Fucking prank misfires. You've got a concussion so any trauma to your head could cause brain bleeding. Your best chance is to curl up to where the branch holding you is, and hoist yourself so your head is above your body, then you can't do much besides wait for help. Very well. Pull yourself up to the branch you are hanging from then use the switchblade to cut your leg free. Do not attempt to drink the energy drink until you are upright. Afterwards, you may be able to use the cap to make a loud "clicking" noise which should carry a decent distance.

hey, word from the old and wise, you did good. There's nothing to fear about on this board except the IRC, which can and often will lead to drama. Next time you get back on, create a thread on quest-dis and put a link to it when you start a new chapter. Discussion threads are where all the out-of-character discussion and questions to the author go.
On another note by managing to pump out 10 quality images with believable personality in the span of two hours, you have already placed yourself in the top bunch of quest artists on this board. As long as your story pans out well and you don't panic over unexpected player choices, you'll get a strong participation and following in no time, as long as people fin your quest while you are here.
And one more thing: tgchan is SLOW, as it can take days or weeks for some well liked quests to update, and so the posters also only visit on an uncommon basis. Do yourself a favor and put a little more space between each quest update so that more people have a chance to get on, see the quest, read up, decide they like it and participate.
And one MORE thing: you can get some attention by posting stuff in the fanart threads or joining in on the random paint-chat scribble sessions. Don't be shy about drawing what your mother might call pornography, as far as we're concerned it's not pornographic unless it was drawn with an intent to be masturbated to. Otherwise, it's best to always add lots of personality and odd angles to those risque scenes to add 'cover' and distract from the tits n' ass. You can also start a thread on the /draw/ board, which has absolutely no restrictions on what you post, provided you don't post your own material in other people's draw threads unless it's some sort of fan-art, which should go in the fan-art threads. The draw-thread will also work wonders as an online back-up archive since the upload limit is insanely huge on this board.
ONE LAST THING: ALWAYS LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE GOING ON HIATUS, LEAVING FOREVER, OR JUST ON VACATION. Nothing kills a quest faster than a quest that never updates, and nothing makes a author more disliked than to dissapear without explanation. And feel free to take part in other quests and discussion threads, it will help you get a feel for the community, and as to what is and what is not considered good quest practice, much of which I've already covered.
DAMMIT ONE LAST THING I FORGOT: Unlike our original home on the 4cahn imageboard, we are not anonymous here, exactly. All posters have a unique ID number assigned to their IP address, which you can see next to the post number or above the filename of a post. Use these to watch out for one or two individual posters attempting to trick you with false votes towards one action or another. This is called 'samefagging' a coarse term that came with us when we migrated, and it is considered an abominable thing to do with the intention of deception or annoyance, otherwise it's cool for any other purposes, like multiple posts of information, or when adding on to a sugestion you made in a quest to clarify something you forgot to add, things like that.
Otherwise, enjoy your stay, try not to get creeped out, and avoid over thinking things or volunteering information about your IRL self as much as possible; this ain't livejournal, and we like to keep it that way.
Fucking hell forgot something even more basic and important: read the FAQ linked onthe front page for how to use the site. We also have an archiver for every quest thread, completed ones get put in the Archive, incompleted ones eventualy get dumped into the Graveyard, and all of them and their authors are listed on the tgchan wiki, which is also linked on the front page. I urge you to check these out and learn our history of storytelling for your own enjoyment and inspiration for improvement. That should be everything.

If you don't mind wasting the energy drink, you can extend your reach with the knife by cutting a small opening in the bottle top, draining out the liquid, then jamming the handle of the knife in the hole. (This is somewhat risky, so you probably want to try using the knife normally first.)

Also, what is that handing above where the bag used to be? Is that part of the same fabric that has caught your leg?

Indeed it is the same fabric. The thing is everywhere! Rina is not really sure what exactly it used to be.

Rina decides to save the drink for later when she gets down from the tree. It would probably be a lot more refreshing if she was not hanging upside down any longer.

Rina is starting to feel her strength come back to her. She is able to curve her body upward just far enough to grab hold of her pants and reach the switchblade over to the fabric tying her up.

Right now Rina has nothing on her that could serve as such except for her clothes, except it's so cold out she's not sure she wants to do such a thing.

Rina removes the branch, shouting in pure agony. As she expected, the wound starts to bleed profusely. Rina quickly and efficiently (regardless of her shaky hands) uses up all the gauze in the kit, soaking them with the disinfecting alcohol. The stinging pain was nothing short of torturous. She then uses the shirt and wraps it around her wounds, not too tight, but tight enough to hopefully keep the bleeding at bay. She applies pressure and keeps calm, waiting for what seemed like an hour almost. The bleeding has not necessarily stopped, but it definitely has been lowered.

Rina thinks she can hear weird noises in the distance that sound a bit like soft chuckling and whispers. She is not sure what caused the person's death, but something tells her whatever did it is not too far away.

There are two items Rina hasn't picked up. One is a sort of weird GPS/Walkie-talkie device. As she looks at the device, she thinks she can slightly remember what exactly she was doing in the woods in the first place. Was it a hiking trip? No...that can't be it. Camping? As much as she would love making a crutch or a spear to reach faraway objects, she cannot find anything that would serve as such nearby. She'll have to search around a bit.

> Based on what you brought with you, I'd say you probably hadn't planned on being out here long.
Maybe you live nearby?

As far as Rina can remember, she's pretty sure she lives in the city. She never liked living in a lonely, quiet place like the woods.

> Do you think you might have known that guy? Not that i expect you to be able to recognize him, what with him having no face and all.

There has got to be a reason he's there and in the condition he's in. Just what happened? At first glance, even with his torn face, she really cannot recognize his clothes or hairstyle or anything. He doesn't even have ears or a tail.

Also, Rina has picked up the backpack that has fallen out of her grasp when she fell from the tree. That's four more spaces for the inventory!

If that's got a radio, the absolute first thing you should do is call for help on the emergency channel (usually 5, if you can't recall and the device doesn't tell you). If that fails, try other channels. Check battery life while you're doing this. If you get no response (gosh what a surprise) then see if you can work out the nearest civilization via GPS. Might also be worth retrying the radio from atop a nearby hill, especially if it has line of sight to said civilization.

Look around a bit to see if there's anything else you could have dropped/missed.

User the survival knife to make a walking stick/crutch if you find any branches about.

Check battery level on the GPS. Mark this spot if you can and I guess try to head towards the nearest road.

You are also definitely not alone. Something was looking at you right before you inspected the corpse. You should probably go in the opposite direction from the back of the corpse.

> Are you thirsty? Maybe you should take some sips of the energy drink.

Good idea! Rina has forgotten how thirsty she was for a moment. She's careful to take a few swigs of the drink (it's cold and refreshing!), making sure to leave some behind for later.

> Can you glean anything from the GPS?

There appears to be nothing displayed on the GPS at the moment.

> So, do you remember driving to the woods?

Rina does not remember how she ended up in the woods in the first place, but she should soon.

> And now that i think of it, you seem to be missing ID and car keys, so maybe someone took some of your stuff?

Rina just notices that she doesn't have a wallet or anything. It's a possibility and she is discouraged at the thought of it.

> Schlick furiously.

As much as she would like to at the moment, now's really not a good time.

The GPS is kinda strange. The radio seems to be built in a way that lets it communicate with other GPSes like it, like a walkie-talkie. She won't be able to get a signal to any emergency lines with this thing. The battery level is half full.

> don't forget to check the dead guy pockets.

Rina hesitantly checks the corpse's pockets, trying hard not to look at the mangled face. She only finds a very strange box that seems to have once been locked on all corners, but is now opened. She is not sure whether she wants to see the contents inside. Something about the box really irks her.

Turn around and shine the flashlight, pull out the survival knife. Somebody is snooping at you!

The box probably didn't melt his face off because it was in his pocket, but maybe you should just stuff it in the bookbag for now.

Stow the box.

Maybe the receiver/transmitter in the GPS broke when it apparently fell from your pocket?

Do you feel like you're being watched?

Anyway, i don't think you'll want to stick around here any longer than you need to.
Look around for footprints with your flashlight.

> Stow the box.

Rina moved the box over into her backpack.

> Maybe the receiver/transmitter in the GPS broke when it apparently fell from your pocket?

That could very well be a possibility. Rina hopes that it will have even a little bit of use.

> Turn around and shine the flashlight, pull out the survival knife. Somebody is snooping at you!

Rina heard something as well.

"Wh-who's there!?" She brandishes the knife and reluctantly points the flashlight over to where she heard the noise. Nothing. She should probably get a move on.

You should gather up that stuff and walk in the direction the corpse is facing. Fuck around with the GPS and see if you can get it to tell you anything useful at all.
>>

Well, the direction the corpse is facing is as good as any,
but i still think you should at least glance around for footprints and/or drag marks.

Just don't follow them if they go in the direction of that noise.

good news is, whatever did this can't climb, is why you were safe, you were too high for it to get. so if you need to you can climb a tree.

Okay, let's uh, not think about the corpses. Are those smoking scorchmarks on the ground, or spatters of blood?

Uh. Shit. I think you should not rifle though the bodies or anything. No reason to flip the shit out.

This might be stupid, but I think you should go this direction, because I think this might be the direction whatever happened came from, which implies it is in the opposite direction. Maybe go laterally a little so there isn't a giant pile of corpses to walk through.

"All these bodies. How...what...?!" Rina's mind is a jumble. All the fogginess seems to be dissipating. She is slowly starting to remember...It was a trip. She was with a group of people. They weren't hiking, or setting up camp. They were looking...looking for something. Caches. Geocaching. Rina starts to remember their faces. Their once bright, excited faces, now replaced with a most horrific and violent fate.

Night swiftly closes in. The once gentle breeze starts to get more intense. Names start to appear in her head. Kevin, Langley, Evan, Tiffany, Veronica, Glade. Glade. GLADE. That name intrigues Rina the most. Glade. Who was she? Think! Think, damnit!

Don't don't panic, don't run, take deep breaths.

Keep your knife at the ready, and your ears open for any sound.

You shouldn't touch the bodies, but keep an eye out for bags or backpacks.

Maybe Glade was your friend?
Your sister?
Mother?

Glade...GLADE...GLA-

"AIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!" A piercing scream rings out from the distance.

"S-someone's in trouble!"
