Hello everyone! It's been around six days since that strange dream. I haven't asked Shabin about it, it might be touchy. I mean, she told me she's never been outside? Anyways, while we've been traveling, I've practiced my soul magic!

I can now send souls, both talent and advice, to anyone in close range. But, if I have a good connection with someone, I think I can send it from anywhere! So, I can talk to Shabin and Fraga at any time, and most likely Tae too, but we haven't talked a whole lot so I'm not sure. Also maybe Voxol, Chop, and Kradis, but I'm not confident about it.

We've just entered what is officially human territory. It's guarded against the forests we're in against potential threats, but Tae's said she was pretty sure kobolds are accepted inside without hassle. She's off hunting right now, but said she would catch up before we get to the forest's edge.

Tell him you can't sense any magic in it. Ask how it was imbued. Suggest perhaps that the nectar it was dipped in was actually elven blood, since it was imported from dwarven lands. Dwarves don't like elves, right? Then pull it out and look over it a bit. Judge how easily you'll be able to swing it around.

This is how we start haggling. Point out flaws in the item (or his sales pitch) to him, and offer a price that's lower than he gave you. Like, say 8 gold.

Why? Don't waste your money. It is so... ugh.

Do you NEED a weapon? I mean, you can throw fireballs. And Shabin is already good at melee fighting, so you don't necessarily have to be good at that as well.

If you REALLY REALLY have to have something. I suggest a regular sword (preferably a short sword, so it's more for your size) Most other weapons wouldn't lend themselves to your size, because you need more leverage.

You should compliment that man's fine wizard hat. Truly, it is the mark of your profession.

Ask about some more advanced healing magic- perhaps a fast healing spell, so that you can cast it in advance and its magic will cure any wounds received later? Or regeneration in case someone loses a limb? Or curing poison?

Learning to block scrying would be good, because of the hat.

Getting more skilled with illusions, so that you can use your invisibility spell with less focus and maybe cloak more than just you, would be quite handy.

And of course advancing your skill with throwing fireballs would be all to the good.

>"Hey. A kobold? Heh, we haven't had many of those, and only one has graduated. But I'm thinking out loud. What can I do for you?"
"I want to learn scrying! Well, defense against it, you see, my hat is a scrying device."
>"Oh?! Are you certain? Who put a scrying hat on you?"

Tell her she doesn't want to know. Or just pretend she didn't ask the question- just go on to describe more about the hat's behavior.

Such as that it's the one on your back, and you can't destroy it or leave it somewhere- it attempts to reappear on your head afterwards. Also the scrying effect is stronger when you put it on willingly (do not demonstrate that), and it drains your mana slightly to cast the scrying spell.

That is dumb why would you do that. OH HEY I AM A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION ALSO THE PHYLACTRY TO TWO OF THE MOST EVIL PEOPLE EVER AND ALSO HUNGER FOR YOUR SWEET DELICIOUS BRAIN MEATS BUT ONLY TECHNICALLY I'M REALLY A NICE GUY.

You are a nice dude, but it sounds fishy, no?

Tell her simply that you don't know but you haven't been able to remove it, so blocking it is the next best thing.

Good points all, but at least the look on her face would be highly entertaining.

"It is very complicated and I really don't think it's a good idea and I'm sorry if that's complicated!"
>"Hm. Generally I would ask more, but a scrying device can be a highly embarrasing ordeal, so I won't push you. I will gladly teach you scrying defense, but for the time, would you like me to destroy that hat? I'm sure you've tried this, but it's come back, right? If so, it's actually a type of scrying device that's very fragile, and whoever put this on you probably knew that you didn't know the magic to destroy it."

Ask her if a scrying device can be booby-trapped to harm someone if they try to destroy it.

Yes. Ask about booby traps. You'd absolutely love it but only if they're really really really sure it's safe. REALLY.
