Let me guess.

Guards in the church when you went to go get Sun? Or were they outside when you came back out?

Either way, just keep running until you get to the secret entrance. Go the long route around to try and lose them.

Heck no! I crossed with the Father when I sneaked into the church to call Sun, and we ended up talking and a guard spotted me! I think I just made a two-hour walk in thirty minutes!

Impressive work there. Good to see what some proper motivation can do for assumed times and speeds.

They're a bit behind you. But you should probably not let up. Keep going for the entrance, with some luck you will have outrun them by the time you get there.

Where are you running? You've been running for half an hour and haven't got away yet? Hide behind a tree! Snipe them from the bushes! Oh right no crossbow. Well, uh, the point is running isn't going to help unless you can get out of sight. Where could you go that they cannot see?

You have your climbing gear, yes? Get it out and get cracking. Not much to do about the guards right now other than avoid them... unless you fancy spending some time trying to explain your actions.

I'm not very keen on spending the entire day covered in purple gunk smelling like a big insect, so, let's see what are the options...

Hmn. This thing's a quite sturdy grate, locked with a sturdy padlock on the other side.

That leaves me three basic options: pick the lock with lockpicks I don't have, break the grate with the superstrength I lack, or dig trough clay and stone around the thing with a spade. Real jackpot material here.

Hmn, I can always wait until age and humidity rusts it away too, I guess that makes four.

hmmm, try launching the DU core out of your pockets. get any good amount of speed on it it should whack pretty hard.
try smacking the lock with the halberd, or the shovel.
another thing you could try would by to attach the rope to one of the beams and then throwing it down the hole and let gravity hank the bar off.

how is the smell by the way? even from the chaminee if it helps.

you could try to dissasemble the door's hinges. if you can dig the wall to another part of the chaminee it would also work

remember to burn the worm if you suceed. the smoke should come out of the chaminee instead of the secret entrance and they should take it as a warning from the demons with any luck.

It has probably decayed a bit, or scavengers have been at it. Hmm, guess you could try charring your way through the middle to not get all purple and shit again. But that sounds quite time consuming and like something that would take alot of torches. I would say start the digging for now, if it's something that's eating its way through the maggot then you should find out on the way back. Getting past the grate shouldn't take more than a couple of hours with soft soil.
